![]() Economic Advantages of plastic slip sheets and ITW Plastic Packaging ProductsCost Savings Pallets Vs Slipsheets: Plastic slip sheets are significantly less expensive than wood pallets. They eliminate the cost of pallet exchange and maintenance. Compared to fiber, plastic has a greater resiliency, enabling you to down gauge your specification, making plastic, on a per sheet basis, more cost-effective than fiber. Plastic slip sheets are also impervious to moisture, which eliminates the product damage costs that can result from soggy fiber slip sheets or costs associated with tab failure. Transportation Savings: You'll save on both outbound and inbound freight. Plastic slip sheets enable you to ship more of your product per outbound truck because they weigh less than pallets (2 lbs. vs 40 lbs.) and take up less space, allowing for more product per load. Inbound, you receive more plastic slip sheets than fiber slip sheets per truck (up to 50% more plastic slip sheets per truckload), reducing the per sheet freight cost. You also reduce administrative costs by ordering less often. Warehouse Space Savings: In the space required for 1,000 plastic slip sheets, you can store only 5 pallets, and fewer than 500 fiber slip sheets. Clearly, plastic slip sheets provide the best alternative for warehouse optimization. Recycling Savings: Plastic has a higher recycling value than fiber and wood. Often warehouses and DCs pay to have odd size or damaged pallets hauled away. In addition, warehouses and DCs receive minimal compensation for fiber. Plastic has a recycling value that is at least 8 times greater than the value of recycled fiber ($30/ton vs $240/ton). |
